EFCSA Forum – A successful evening with David Unsworth and Joe Royle

Why do both Merseyside clubs fail in their quest to develop local goalkeepers? Why can’t modern day fullbacks block crosses? These were just a couple of the questions asked at last night’s forum.

An enjoyable evening was held in the Peoples Lounge at Goodison Park where an audience of approximately 50 shareholders and their guests were entertained by the quick wit and wisdom of the inimitable Joe Royle, and future manager in the making, David Unsworth. The event was hosted by Darren Griffiths in his usual affable style.

Topics covered were varied, and numerous, with an emphasis on the development of youth. A collection was made on the night for the “Fans Supporting Foodbanks” and EFCSA Committee member Dave Kelly is shown with the donations.

Feedback following the event has been very positive and we hope to bring you news of our next Forum in the near future.

An Evening with Alan Myers

The Shareholders’ Association has two upcoming forums, and a number of other planned events, which we hope will be of interest to our members and other Evertonians.

On Monday December 2nd Alan Myers, Everton’s new Head of Communications, has agreed to talk to us in The People’s Lounge at Goodison Park. Alan has had an eventful start to his latest period of employment with the club, the change to the Club Badge and the reaction to it being just one issue he’s had to deal with. Alan will talk about that and any other issues you care to raise, including the challenges facing the communications and press office, priorities for the season and the part the fans play.

Alan is a true Evertonian and an honest man with a good sense of humour and he will, I’m sure, have tales of what went wrong as well as what worked well. This promises to be a good, open-ended evening and one not to be missed. It starts at 7.30 in the People’s Lounge but there is tea and coffee from 7 onwards. It is free to Association members, who can bring a friend or two. There will be a charge of £2 for non-members.

For catering purposes, could you let me know of your intention to attend? My e mail address is tony.heslop@efcsa.org and my phone number is 0151 920 0227.

Details of future events will be publicised here in the coming weeks.

Timing of the Everton FC EGM

Since we posted our intent to force an EGM the most frequent question that we’ve received from Shareholders, Fans and Journalists alike has been …

“So, when do you think the EGM will take place?”

The answer to this question is driven by company law and simply put the Club has 21 days from the notification we hand delivered to Goodison Park on May 8th to notify all Shareholders, giving 28 days notice, of the time and location of the General Meeting.

So, the answer to the questions is …

“The Everton FC EGM will take place on or before June 25th”
